Mauricio Pochettino 'looking to hijack Barcelona's move for Manchester City centre-back Eric Garcia

According to reports, Barcelona are likely to face stiff competition from PSG in signing Manchester City’s centre-back Eric Garcia.

Barcelona have been eyeing Garcia for quite some time now, and Koeman wants him to join the club in this January transfer window. Man City are willing to let go of the player at a fee of not more than £4.5 million.

Mauricio Pochettino ‘looking to hijack Barcelona’s move

Mauricio Pochettino and PSG are looking forward to hijacking Barca’s deal with Garcia for a possible move to the Camp Nou.

Reports claim that Barca’s top management is ready to wait until the summer transfer window to bring in the player as a free agent. His contract with Man City will expire at the end of this season.

Plans to elect a new president at the Camp Nou was postponed, which puts Garcia’s move this January in serious doubts. The postponement was due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in Spain.

The pandemic has plagued Barca financially, and Paris Saint Germain are likely to take advantage of the situation to sign Garcia. The new PSG boss is planning to bolster PSG’s defence.

Barcelona is Garcia’s boyhood club, and many expect him to consider a return to Barca. From reports, he will not rule out moving from the Etihad.

Moreover, Barca’s fear is not the fact that Garcia could move elsewhere this January, but because he could accept an offer in the summer transfer window if they quickly don’t make a move.

The postponement of Garcia’s move to Barca is a disappointment to Koeman who looks forward to reinforcing Barca’s backline.

Reports also claim that Koeman is furious with the management for being hesitant about Garcia’s move to Camp Nou.

Barca’s backline has been affected by injuries a reason why Koeman is desperate in a signing the defender. His current fear is about Garcia getting offers from different rival Champions League teams.

PSG are just waiting to see how things turn out between Barcelona and Eric Garcia. They are ready to make an offer that will see Garcia moving to the Ligue 1 side.
