Chelsea recently unveiled Thomas Tuchel as their new head coach, following the sacking of their club legend Frank Lampard.
Thomas Tuchel revealed that he received a good luck message from former coach Frank Lampard.
“I can only repeat I have the biggest respect, I was a huge fan of Frank as a player, it was a huge joy to watch him play and to see how he played.
“He was one of the key figures to demonstrate in 90 minutes what Chelsea was about, intensity, devotion, winning mentality.
“And so I have the biggest respect for him personally and for his legacy.”
Lampard failed to obtain the desired results despite spending heavily(€250 million) in the summer transfer window.
Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner are among the new signings. Roman Abramovich, felt Lampard was not able to make good use of the new signings, especially Werner and Havertz.
Tuchel oversaw a 0-0 draw against Wolves in his first game as Chelsea coach in the last game week.
The Chelsea board is well known for firing coaches shortly after their appointment and, therefore, many fans hold their doubts regarding Tuchel’s new role.
Thomas Tuchel’s view
According to The Guardian, Tuchel is not concerned about how things turn out to be at Chelsea.
“It’s pure passion,” Tuchel said. “Also some principles. Your word is your word and I trust the word of a man. There are always two sides to a story and I’m not here to blame anybody. I do also see this in myself. What I like now, why I am very positive, is that I am absolutely self-aware that this is a thing to improve and to be also more relaxed and maybe not to be too stubborn in my beliefs.
“The other thing is the structure that I find here is very clear and very easy. There are not many people who make the decisions and I can live with that. When things are clear, it is on me as the head coach to on one hand adapt and on the other hand make my opinion clear and give analysis of where I think we can improve. I hope this comes along in the right way,” Tuchel added.
In the interview, he also agreed that not many expect him to last at Stamford Bridge. He said:
“Maybe nobody expects me to be here long, maybe because of the history of coaches and Chelsea. Maybe I stay long. If I don’t stay long, I don’t stay long. I cannot lose my focus right now.”
Thomas Tuchel hopes to finish in the top 4
Tuchel noted his desire for the players to bond and play at a certain level of energy.
“I want to feel a certain level of energy,” he said. “I want to feel a special bond between the players. I want to be entertained.”
The Blues are currently in the 8th position in the Premier League table, getting 30 in 20 matches.
