Pochettino is aware of the difference in demands at Paris Saint Germain compared to when he was at Tottenham Hotspurs.

At Spurs, the argentine had all the time to build a strong team that reached the Champions League final.

In an interview with AFP in France, Pochettino said,

“We got to the Champions League final after five years working towards it. We built a platform and a structure and our objective was to be able to compete for these things,”

Taking Tottenham to the champions league finals cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting coaches in Europe.

“We had gone almost two years at Tottenham without signing any players when we got to the final. We have only been here two months,” he continued.

“At Tottenham, we had the necessary time to develop something and it bore fruit with a mix of young players and experienced players.”

Pochettino replaced Thomas Tuchel was who sacked last year after taking PSG to the Champions League finals and winning all the domestic cups in France.

“The project at PSG has been a different one for a number of years. We will see how we can create a project that will be different from what we did at Tottenham but will have the same objective, to win.”

Pochettino believes winning the Champions League is PSG’s main aim. The French giants lost to Bayern Munich in the last season’s Champions League final.

“Obviously this club aspires to win the Champions League. Lots of other clubs are trying to win it too, and have invested lots of money but can’t win it because it is not so easy,” he said.

PSG thrashed Barcelona 4-1 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, with Kylian Mbappe scoring a hattrick at the Camp Nou stadium.

The return leg is next week, on March 10. PSG are second in the Ligue 1 table, 2 points behind league leaders Lille.
