West Ham United have proved to be one of the top four contenders in the English Premier League after winning 2-0 against Leeds United to move to fifth position.

Goals from Craig Dawson and Jesse Lingard gave them the lead on Monday night.

Lingard scored the first goal in the 21st minute after converting a rebound from a saved penalty. He has now scored four premier league goals in the last six appearances for West Ham.

Seven minutes later, the hammers scored the second goal with a brilliant header from Dawson. The two goals helped them move to the fifth position with 48 points.

In the post-match interview, Declan Rice said:

“Leeds caused us problems, two disallowed goals, we had to wake up and get into the game.” “We could have been one or two goals down and that would have been hard to come back against a team like Leeds.”

David Moyes’s side have a game in hand and are now just two points behind Chelsea who are fourth-placed.

Since moving to West Ham on loan from Old Trafford, Jesse Lingard has proved to be one of the key players, giving Moyes more attacking options.

Bielsa’s side scored two goals which were ruled out before allowing West Ham to score. They wasted several chances that would have allowed them to get back into the game.

Leeds were a threat in the second half, but Fabianski was at his best form. He made several saves to maintain a clean sheet.

“We had the first 15 minutes in the first half which was the best for us in the game. In the second half the dominance was continuous,” he said.

The match ended with Leeds having 17 attempts on goal. They remain in the 11th spot in the premier league table with 35 points.
