Manchester United were kicked out of the FA Cup by Leicester at King Power Stadium. This has ended any chance for a domestic season trophy for the club. A Kelechi Iheanacho brace and a beautiful strike from Youri Tielemans were enough to knock out the red devils.

A big defensive error in the 24th minute by Fred whose back pass to the goalkeeper Dean Henderson came short allowed Iheanacho a chance to put the ball into the net.

Mason Greenwood, however, after a superb play from Pogba and Van de Beek netted the equalizer before halftime. Youri Tielemans would have a big impact after an unchallenged run into the Manchester United box and a well-placed shot beat Dean Henderson to restore the lead.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer made four substitutions at once but it was a little too late as Leicester City found the net in the 78th minute from a free-kick. This has dashed all hope for a domestic trophy for Manchester United with all their focus now being drawn to the Europa League.

We didn’t have the spark tonight — but it’s understandable,” Solskjaer said in a post-match interview with BBC after the game. “This team have been fantastic in the last three or four months. We played every three days and been on a great run.

“It just caught up with us, all the games and travels. Thursday night in Milan was a big night and took a lot of out of us physically. We didn’t have the extra zip, authority and confidence today.”

Brandon Rodgers was however pleased with his team’s performance.

“I’m obviously delighted. It was a great team performance. Every aspect of the game was complete. We showed courage to play football against one of Europe’s greatest teams. I’m so happy for the players. I thought we thoroughly deserved it. Kelechi has always contributed. Maybe his confidence was lower but he works so hard every day and always comes in and gives his all. You see his confidence now. He’s at the top of his game.”

Leicester will now face Southampton in the FA semi-finals with Chelsea facing Manchester City.
