Kalidou Koulibaly, the Napoli defender, is reportedly close to joining Liverpool.
The Senegal international has been heavily linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, but it now appears that real progress is being made.
Due to financial problems, it appears that Napoli will sell Koulibaly for a lower price this summer, rendering him available for as little as £42.5 million.
This is a price Liverpool will be willing to pay, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, and it appears to have the potential to be excellent business.
For several years, Koulibaly has been a rock-solid player in Serie A and the Champions League, and he will certainly boost Jurgen Klopp’s defensive choices.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip have all been injured for the majority of the season, making it a tough season for the Reds.
When Van Dijk returns, Koulibaly, rather than Gomez or Matip, may be the ideal partner for him.
Ibrahima Konate and Raphael Varane, as well as on-loan Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak, have all been linked with a permanent move to Liverpool.
