Leicester city vs Manchester City match preview

Leicester City will be back in action against top-placed Manchester City on Saturday which is set to be a thrilling encounter. The Foxes are looking to complete a league double over the City which would be their first since the 1986-87 season.

Their fixture in September last year ended in favor of Leicester with a massive scoreline of 5-2 at the Etihad. Manchester City has had a mixed result away against Leicester with two defeats and two victories in their last four fixtures.

After Chelsea in 2016-17 and Manchester United and Wolves last season, Leicester City could become just the fourth team to win the league double over a Pep Guardiola-coached side.Manchester City has only conceded eight goals away from home in the Premier League this season, with Tottenham in November becoming the only team to score more than once against the Citizens.

Manchester City has won all eight of their away league games by a cumulative score of 22-3.
“Leicester is a top-class team – they can beat us. The depth of their squad… I am impressed,”
“We will be closer to winning the title if we win and then every game after that is a final. The team will feel that, and we are ready to try it.
“People say we are close. The champions are Liverpool. We are in the best position. But United and Leicester can win a lot of games.
“Everything in football can happen. We need more than four wins to be champions and tomorrow is the first one, we will try. After that game, I will think of Borussia Dortmund.” Said the city boss Pep Guardiola in a pre-match interview.

Maddison will be in contention for the game as confirmed by the Leicester boss.
“He’s back in training and he will be available for the weekend, so that’s great news for us,” Rodgers told the media on Thursday afternoon. “Clearly, he’s not 100 percent match fit but, in terms of his football fitness, he looks great.
“In the last few weeks, he’s been working with the team, with the players we have available, and he’s stepped that up. He’s not reporting any pain and he looks great. It’s really good news for us, his availability back into the squad again, and hopefully, he can stay fit now until the end of the season.”

Manchester City will face Borussia Dortmund after the trip against Leicester at the King Power Stadium. Kick-off time will be Saturday 19:30 EAT.

According to the Daily Star, senior Everton officials are furious with Farhad Moshiri over his weekend meetings with Vitor Pereira.

Moshiri met with the contender for talks in Monaco, according to the newspaper’s print copy (25/01).

Given how disastrous the move to appoint Rafa Benitez was, board members at Goodison Park are thought to have strong opposition.

“Board and on the senior executive, especially given the disastrous appointment of Rafa Benitez,” the piece concluded.

Moshiri appeared to be going in headfirst and making the decision without engaging anyone.

This just goes to show that, while he may be a terrific businessman, his football brain is still lagging behind and causing serious problems at Goodison Park.

The owner is in desperate need of advice because some of his recent actions have been comical.

The fans are grateful to those senior board members who opted to stand up and be counted on this occasion, preventing a catastrophe.

Pereira may have won awards during his career, but he did so in nations like China, Greece, and Portugal, where it is expected.

Hopefully, Moshiri will listen to his board members more often, and they will assist him in making the best decision possible to move the Toffees ahead rather than backward.

Newcastle table £10m loan offer, player out of contract in the summer

Newcastle have reportedly made a £10 million loan approach for Jesse Lingard in the final days of the January transfer window, according to 90Min. According to the report, despite the fact that conversations have lasted a month, they ‘anticipate’ this offer to be ‘accepted.’

Lingard, who is 29 years old, has only started two of his 14 league and cup games this season. That’s following a brilliant loan spell with West Ham last season, in which he netted nine goals and contributed five assists in 16 appearances. In June, his contract will expire.

Newcastle, as well as West Ham and Tottenham, have been heavily connected with Lingard. However, according to the source, Newcastle has offered United a £10 million loan fee for Lingard after extensive discussions.

Unless he accepts a new Old Trafford contract, such a deal would likely put an end to his United career. It’s unknown whether Lingard wants to transfer, but it’s been said that Newcastle would have to pay him twice as much as he is now.

Lingard still needs to be persuaded. Newcastle triumphed over the weekend, which is crucial not only in terms of staying up but also in terms of attracting players this month. It provides those who are being hunted a better chance of surviving.

Lingard possesses the ability to increase Newcastle’s hopes of remaining in the Premier League significantly. If he joins on loan, Newcastle will have six months to persuade him to sign a permanent contract – and it could work out.

Celtic's brilliant player could leave before transfer deadline

Celtic’s Mikey Johnston might be on the move in the last week of the transfer market as Aberdeen look for a loan deal.

Aberdeen manager Stephen Glass, according to the Daily Record, is desperate to add additional attacking alternatives.

The Dons now want to loan Johnston out for the remainder of the season, which might be beneficial to all parties involved.

This season, Johnston has appeared in 12 Scottish Premiership matches but has only played 90 minutes twice.

With loanee Jota excelling in from the left-wing, Ange Postecoglou hasn’t given Johnston a big role this season.

A new signing has been made. Daizen Maeda can also play on the left, Johnston may find it difficult to break into the first squad if he stays at Celtic.

Johnston, like Ryan Christie in 2017, may be able to play frequently and really kick on if he moves to Aberdeen.

It’s worth noting that former Celtics star Scott Brown is said to have given Johnston a great endorsement.

Brown and Johnston were teammates at Celtic, and with Brown now assisting Stephen Glass as a coach in addition to his playing duties, Johnston has come highly recommended.

Celtic are currently dealing with a number of injuries, so Postecoglou may be able to postpone Johnston’s departure until the very last minute.

With his 23rd birthday approaching in April, Johnston may have to consider leaving Celtic for good.

Although 11 goals and 10 assists in 77 matches isn’t bad, it’s difficult to envisage him as a starting player for the Bhoys.

Callum McGregor has described Johnston as “sensational” and a “great talent,” but he has been plagued by injuries, particularly this season.

Johnston is a quick and crafty player with a lot of potential, but he may need some time away from Celtic — either on loan or permanently – to fully realize it.
