Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is said to have spoken to Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski about a move to Stamford Bridge.
Todo Fichajes claims that Lewandowski’s future with Bayern is in question ahead of next season, with the Poland international eager to prove himself in the Premier League.
According to the source, Chelsea are competing with Manchester City for Lewandowski’s services, with Pep Guardiola also interested in signing the prolific striker as a replacement for Sergio Aguero.
Chelsea, on the other hand, could use a striker, and Tuchel seems to have taken measures to get ahead of City in the race to sign Lewandowski.
Even though the 32-year-old isn’t getting any younger, he seems to be a player who is improving with age.
Last season, Lewandowski scored an incredible 55 goals in all competitions, and he would have won the Ballon d’Or had his form not helped Bayern win the treble.
This season, the former Borussia Dortmund striker has 46 goals in 38 games in all competitions, indicating that he will be a significant improvement over Timo Werner in Tuchel’s squad.
It will be fascinating to see if Lewandowski leaves Bayern after such a successful career at the Allianz Arena, but it will be a pleasure to see such a talented player in the Premier League before the end of his career.
Chelsea and City will clash in the Champions League final later this month, and the winner will gain a significant advantage in the race to sign Lewandowski.
