Declan Rice shared an Instagram photo with Marko Arnautovic yesterday night, amid speculations linking the Austrian with a return to West Ham.
Hammers manager David Moyes desperately wants to bring in a couple of top-tier centre-forwards this summer.
Marko Arnautovic, in particular, has been heavily linked with a move to West Ham in recent months.
The 32-year-old is said to be on the Hammers’ radar by Tutto Mercato Web, ExWHUemployee, and talkSPORT transfer specialist Alex Crook ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 32-year-old might be a free transfer target. So long as Moyes also brings in a big name, signing Arnie on the cheap isn’t the worst idea in the world.
After the way he pushed for a move away from the Hammers before his eventual departure two years ago, he is not popular in East London.
In July 2019, the 87-cap Austria international joined Shanghai SIPG, currently known as Shanghai Port, from the London Stadium. In China, the striker earns a staggering £200,000 a week (Daily Mirror).
The flamboyant striker appears to have remained a popular figure among West Ham’s teammates.
Declan is obviously a big Arnie fan. After yesterday night’s international game, he shared the photo below with the Austrian:
Sure, he’s 32 years old and certainly past his prime. However, the former Stoke City player might yet work for West Ham for a year or two.
It remains to be seen whether Moyes will be daring enough to bring him back.
