Liverpool told £70million+ would get star signing done

Gini Wijnaldum will join PSG on a free transfer this summer (Marca), and Liverpool will need to find a replacement for the key Dutch international.

Youri Tielemans, a Belgian international and Leicester City star, has recently been linked with the Reds, and the newest reports say that a sum of over £70 million would be required to sign him.

According to the Leicester Mercury, Jurgen Klopp would have to pay £70 million or more to sign the former Monaco midfielder, who was a standout performer for the Foxes last season.

Under Brendan Rodgers’ coaching, Tielemans has mostly played as a deep-lying playmaker, although he has also proven to be a dynamic central/attacking midfielder when needed.

In the FA Cup final versus Chelsea, the 24-year-old midfielder scored the game-winning goal, a spectacular long-range strike. In the competition, he scored three goals and provided two assists.

Last season, the 38-capped international contributed in 10 goals (6 goals and 4 assists) in 37 Premier League starts, but Leicester were unable to qualify for the Champions League. He could be enticed to join the Reds next season in order to compete in Europe’s top tournament.

Kevin Phillips, a former striker, reportedly predicted that the versatile midfielder might be enticed to join Liverpool. According to Football Insider, the former Sunderland striker said:

“Leicester won’t be getting Champions League football next year after just missing out while Liverpool have, that’s a big, big draw for any player.”

“So if Liverpool were to make inquiries and make an offer then it could be one of those where it’s hard to stop the player going and turn the deal down, so it will be an interesting one.”

Wijnaldum was a regular starter for Jurgen Klopp, and Tielemans, like the Dutchman, has a stellar fitness record. In the Premier League, he has proven his worth.
