Following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum from Anfield, Liverpool’s relationships with midfielders around Europe are at an all-time high.
On Thursday, the Dutchman signed a three-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, leaving Anfield bosses with the onerous task of filling the gap left by one of their most consistent players.
The current midfielder linked with a move to Anfield plays for Lazio and is a familiar figure among Liverpool supporters, while the Reds reportedly have a second Serie A target, according to Italian media reports.
Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, is keeping an eye on players in his own country, with one Borussia Monchengladbach standout believed to have attracted his eye.
Liverpool will almost certainly have to wait until after Euro 2020, which began on Friday night, to finalise signings.
‘Monstrous’ Milinkovic-Savic bid readied
According to sources in Italy, Liverpool is preparing a massive bid for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The 26-year-old has been heavily linked to the Premier League for some time, and the Reds are thought to have renewed their interest in him.
Milinkovic-Savic has eight goals and ten assists in Serie A this season, and according to the Rome-based tabloid Il Messaggero, Liverpool consider him as a perfect replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.
However, the Serbian international is under contract at Stadio Olimpico for another three years, so a’monstrous’ offer to lure him away from Lazio would be required.
