According to reports, Leicester City have intensified their chase of former Liverpool center-back Ozan Kabak. Following Schalke 04’s relegation to the 2. Bundesliga, the defender could be available for a bargain this summer.

Leicester have already made contact with Kabak’s agents, according to renowned Bundesliga journalist Chris Williams.

This summer, the Foxes are set to make a permanent offer of around £12.8 million (€15 million) to bring him to the Premier League.

Kabak joined the Reds on an urgent loan deal in February, after the club’s unfortunate injury-related centre-back shortage.

Liverpool finished third in the EPL and advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals thanks to the 21-year-13 old’s outings.

Jurgen Klopp’s only summer transfer business, a £36 million agreement for RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate, effectively ruined Kabak’s chances of staying at the club.

Kabak returned to Schalke after his loan deal with Liverpool ended in June.

He said: “Dear Liverpool family, I would like to thank you for the compassion and support you have shown towards me since the day I arrived.

“I believe the experience I have gathered during my four-month stay here has been a very important one.

“I have learned a lot from my manager Jürgen Klopp and all my teammates, and I was proud to be part of this special family.

“I will always remember my days here at Liverpool with great happiness and the special song which you have kindly gifted me. YNWA.”

Rodgers would have four solid primary centre-back options in Fofana, Soyuncu, Evans, and Kabak for the 2021/22 campaign.
