Lautaro Martinez prefers a move to Arsenal this summer

According to the Athletic, Arsenal have been handed a transfer boost as Lautaro Martinez has expressed interest in joining them this summer.

Martinez is among the list of players Inter Milan are planning to sell to boost their finances.

The Athletic reported that the agreement between the two clubs would be simple to complete should the right offer be placed on the table.

Inter team-mates Romelu Lukaku, Christian Eriksen, and Alexis Sanchez all earn more than double what he does now, so a move to Arsenal would see him earn much more.

Martinez’s situation is being closely monitored by several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal’s North London rivals, have been linked with the Argentine, but only if they lose Harry Kane to Manchester City.

Arsenal’s ability to raise funds could be dependent on Alexandre Lacazette’s future.

They cited the French forward as part of a possible Martinez transfer, but Inter is only interested in a monetary exchange.

Mikel Arteta praises Arsenal's 'terrific' signing after Norwich win

Following Saturday’s 1-0 win over Norwich City, new signing Aaron Ramsdale received great praise from manager Mikel Arteta.

After completing a successful move to Arsenal in the summer, the goalkeeper seems to have finally settled into life at The Emirates.

The 23-year-old put in a stellar performance against Norwich, helping Arsenal get their first triumph of the season thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal.

The Gunners’ first-choice goalkeeper, Bernd Leno, was dropped in favor of Ramsdale and the manager was pleased with the English goalie.

Arteta said: “I think he was terrific.

“It is not only what he did on the technical side, it is what he transmits, his energy, his chemistry with the backline, how he reacts, his body language… I think it was top.

“We have two fantastic goalkeepers and never forgot what Bernd has done for us and what a good goalkeeper he is.

“I had to make decisions and I felt Aaron was the right one to do so and like in any other position, and that is what we decided today.”

Mikel Arteta is running out of time in his attempt to improve his squad with roughly just two weeks left till the transfer window closes.

Arteta is wary of his side’s weaknesses especially now after they lost their opening match to new boys Brentford.

The Gunners are in dire need for a creative midfielder and more options in attack with both their strikers, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Lacazette missing the season opener due to illness.

According to Sky Sports News, European giants Barcelona wanted to secure a move for the Gabon International to Camp Nou and were ready to offer Philippe Coutinho in a swap deal.

However, recent reports by football journalist, Fabrizio Romano have it that Barcelona are no longer interested and given their financial situation, their priority is to offload some excess players.

This is a great blow to Arteta  and the Gunners who were looking to offload the forward as he has failed to impress in recent times.

The 32-year-old managed 14 goals last season as Arsenal finished eighth  in the league, missing out on Europa League football.

Arsenal renewed  Aubameyang’s contract till 2024 last year after a series of superb performances but his form has taken a dive in recent times thus making his exorbitant salary a huge problem for the club.

Meanwhile, Granit Xhaka has signed a 1-year contract extension at the club, keeping him in London till 2024, although Arsenal have an option for an additional year.

The Switzerland international was heavily linked with a move to AS Roma this summer, with the London side willing to cash in on him.

In other news, Arsenal have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic. According to HITC via Gianluca Di Marzio, the Fiorentina striker prefers a move to Tottenham Hotspur, who are also in the race for his signature. The Serbian is wanted by Atletico Madrid too, but they have been unable to agree a deal with the Serie A side.

Arsenal were previously interested in Tammy Abraham and Luataro Martinez. Abraham is all set to join AS Roma, while the Argentine is unlikely to move to the Emirates.

Arsenal interested in Leicester’s key man in a bid to bolster their attack

Mikel Arteta praises Arsenal's 'terrific' signing after Norwich win

Arsenal have made a proposal to Leicester for a move for playmaker James Maddison.

According to Football.london, Leicester’s James Maddison is at the top of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s wish list in pursuit of a creative midfielder in the summer window.

The Gunners are interested in a swoop to sign the 24-year-old to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2021-22 season.

They are also looking at Maddison as an alternative to Martin Odegaard, as he seems likely to remain at Madrid in the coming season.

Arteta is a big admirer of the Foxes’ playmaker as he has been impressive over the past three seasons.

Negotiations for Maddison’s move to the Emirates have been slow, but Maddison has made it clear that he is interested in the move to North London even though Arsenal finished below Leicester in the Premier League table last season.

Leicester are eyeing a fee of about £70 million. However, Arsenal hope to lower this price by including players in the deal, with the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson understood to be the players offered.

However, the move will only work if Arsenal are willing to give up a player in a position that Brendan Rodgers’ side is looking to recruit in.

Rodgers was in the market for a centre back this summer and with Wesley Fofana suffering a fractured fibula, it only gave him more pressure to sign.

When Fofana was stretchered off during Leicester City’s 3-2 win over Villarreal on Wednesday night, the 20-year-old immediately signalled for assistance after a scissor challenge by the forward Fer Nino.

Arsenal having recently brought in Ben White from Brighton and loaned out William Saliba and Dinos Mavropanos, the Gunners seem not in a position to offer one.

Maddison scored 8 goals and made 5 assists in 31 appearances for the Foxes last season.
