Wesley Fofana confirms the extent of his injury

Following a terrible tackle from Villarreal star Fer Nio, Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana has revealed the exact extent of his injury.

On Wednesday evening, during Leicester City’s pre-season friendly versus Villarreal at the King Power Stadium, Fofana had to be stretchered off.

The match itself resulted in a 3-2 victory for the Foxes, but the tackle, and especially the ensuing injury, left the fans worried.

Nio, a Villarreal striker who subsequently scored, made a horrible tackle on Leicester centre-back Fofana, initially taking the ball but then carelessly wrapping his other leg around his opponent.

Fofana was in excruciating pain following the challenge and had to be stretchered away, and he has already revealed a catastrophic injury after gruesome photographs of a shattered ankle surfaced.

He said on his social media channels: “Hello guys, many thanks for all your messages.

“It is a bad day today but I am in a tremendous club with a wonderful medical team.

“I will give you news as a soon as I have a final diagnosis but we already know that I have a fibula fracture. I will come back soon and stronger.

“Do not worry I am a warrior.”

Fofana’s recovery time will be determined by the severity of his injury and whether he has sustained any more damage, but a broken fibula typically takes six to three months to heal.
