Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has revealed that Ianis Hagi will miss this afternoon’s match against Dundee United due to injury issues.
The Gers will travel to Tannadice in the early start, with the reigning champions seeking to improve on their stunning 3-0 triumph in the opener.
However, after that impressive win over Livingston, Gerrard’s men were sent crashing down to earth in midweek. Rangers have a lot of work to do in the second leg of their Champions League third-round qualifier against Malmo after a humiliating 2-1 loss in the first leg.
The Romanian player will not be available for the club’s match against the Tangerines, according to the Liverpool legend.
After missing the Malmo tie due to injury, Kemar Roofe and Glen Kamara are expected to return to the starting XI, although Alfredo Morelos may not. The 25-year-old is poised to return to training but lacks match fitness, however, he could rejoin the team for their critical Champions League qualifier second leg encounter in midweek.
In his press conference yesterday, Gerrard addressed his team’s injury problems, saying:
“We will be without Ianis Hagi. Roofe is available to return to the group. Kamara will return to the squad.
“Morelos is available but he will need a couple of sessions on his return. Ryan Jack will be another couple of weeks all being well.”
