The Toffees could sell Andre Gomes to sign Matheus Nunes

According to a report from O Jogo, Everton are hoping to sell Andre Gomes before making a move to recruit Sporting Lisbon star Matheus Nunes.

For a long time, the Toffees have been interested in the 22-year-old player.

Rafa Benitez, on the other hand, seems no closer to getting him to Goodison Park.

Now it appears that the Spaniard is attempting to hasten the process by transferring one of his present players.

According to O Jogo, the Toffees are actively attempting to offload Gomes from Merseyside this summer.

Everton signed the 28-year-old from Barca in 2019 for roughly £22 million (BBC).

Gomes has shown flashes of brilliance, but he hasn’t been reliable enough. And it’s possible that his time at Goodison Park is nearing to an end.

Nunes would be a significant improvement over the Portuguese player.

The Brazilian is a fantastic passer with excellent vision.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Nunes’ former colleague Goncalo Santos regarded the Sporting midfielder as an “unbelievable” player.

This summer, Nunes might be available for as little as £16 million. For the Toffees, that would be fantastic value.

However, it appears that Gomes will be the first to be sold.

At this point, it’s uncertain whether they’ll be able to obtain anywhere near that amount of money for the midfielder.
