Spurs vs Manchester City, preview, team news and more

Tottenham Hotspur host defending Premier League champions Manchester City tomorrow in the standout fixture of the opening weekend of the 2021-22 Premier league season.

The Cityzens will be looking to put their strong foot forward in a bid to defend their title after a poor start to the season by losing the Community Shield to Leicester.

Spurs have had a summer of flux, and now they have a new manager, Nuno Espirito Santo and new signings Cristian Romero, Pierluigi Gollini and Bryan Gil.

Manchester City on the other hand have made a record signing in the club’s history, cashing out £100 million for England international Jack Grealish and players such as Cole Palmer and Sam Edozie rising up the ranks from the EDS side to the first team.

Spurs main man Harry Kane is back in training and has made himself available to be selected in the squad against City despite being linked with a move to City.

Let’s take a look at how the two sides might line up.

Tottenham

Kane has been back at the club in the build up to this game.

According to Nuno, the two have held talks and Kane could be involved tomorrow despite the continued speculation of the player departing the club.

New signing Romero is unlikely to be involved  as he was part of the Argentinian squad that won the Copa America and has done minimal training with his new team mates.

Tanguy Ndombele will also not be involved with Nuno yet to include him in the first team squad.

Tottenham will be short of  centre back after Toby Alderweireld left the club this summer.

Erik Lamela is also another first team departure.

Manchester City

Manchester City are yet to have the services of key players Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden with the two being out injured.

Both players were sidelined for last weekend’s 1-0 Community Shield defeat by Leicester, with Pep Guardiola stating that the duo would be out “for a while”, with De Bruyne likely to return ahead of Foden.

The likes of Ederson, Gabriel Jesus, John Stones, Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker were also absent from Wembley, but are now back in training following their summer international exertions.

Record signing Jack Grealish will be pushing for a Premier League debut.
