Jesse Lingard open to £25m West Ham transfer

West Ham’s possibilities of getting Jesse Lingard back increase as the transfer period nears its completion.

According to The Times, the Hammers are reportedly interested in the midfielder who has not yet decided whether to remain in the Premier League or leave.

Having had a fantastic loan period at West Ham in which he was much praised, Lingard returned to Manchester United to push for a place in the first team.

The 28-year-old missed the season opener match after testing positive for Covid-19. However, he featured in several pre-season games for United.

The Times has reported that if Lingard believes he will not start often for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s club, he may leave Manchester United.

Assistant coach Stuart Pearce insists that West Ham is still keen on signing Lingard, and according to him, he remains highly sought after by the Hammers.

Moyes said at the end of last season that he wanted Lingard back at the club, but he has since not commented publicly about the situation. It is, however, becoming evident from what Pearce has said on talkSPORT that the club stands fast in their decision to sign Lingard.
