James Forrest looks ready to continue with his impressive form after the international break.
In the early stages of Postecoglou’s tenure, the Scotland international was in good form, scoring two goals and providing six assists in his first six matches under Ange.
Forrest missed a month of action due to injury, which made him miss Celtic’s last three matches.
Fortunately, Forrest will be ready to feature in this weekend’s match against Ross County. Ange had earlier revealed that Forrest was ready to face Rangers, but that didn’t happen. As reported in the Scotsman, Forrest was still in the squad for the Glasgow Derby on the morning of the match.
Liel Abada had to come to the rescue by featuring in the last three games, playing 266 minutes across the three matches. His absence also gave Kyogo Furuhashi the opportunity to play.
Finally, Forrest’s return will allow Celtic to have two well-positioned right-wingers. This will provide him with the opportunity to replace Abada with a more established talent when he starts showing signs of decline. Also, as a matter of course.
His return, though, aligns perfectly with the loan signing of Portuguese prospect Jota from Benfica.
Forrest’s programme has no setbacks between now and the end of the week, fingers crossed.
Although he was so close to making it to Ibrox, he should be fully recovered by the time the game against County rolls around.
