Foxes defender says Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world

Leicester City’s centre back Wesley Fofana has admitted that he would love to play for Real Madrid before his career comes to an end, adding that the club is the biggest in the world.

This is in response to transfer speculations linking him to real Madrid last summer.

Fofana is one of the most promising defenders in the Premier League and is currently under contract at the King Power stadium until 2025, being valued at a figure around €40m.

A nasty fibula fracture in the pre-season friendly tie against Villarreal prevented Real from making a move for the Frenchman.

The 20-year-old has been exceptional in defense for Leicester, since arriving from French side Saint-Etienne in 2020, attracting interest from Real.

“Rumours of a move to Real Madrid? It’s an honour,” Fofana said.

“Real Madrid are the club of my dreams. They’re the biggest club in the world and my dream is to play there one day.”

Even so, it is unlikely that Fofana will be back in action for Leicester before 2022, and the Spanish giants will have to wait till he is fit to re-evaluate whether he is still a good fit for them

Carlo Ancelotti’s side is looking forward to a massive squad rebuild after losing both Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane last summer.

Apart from Fofana, they are also on the look out for other options like Villarreal’s Pau Torres and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, while Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger has been rumoured as a  potential target in recent times.

Los Blancos have a couple of options at the back. David Alaba is a permanent starter when fit and the club is looking for someone to pair up with the Austrian and create a solid partnership. It seems that they are not ready to give the role to either of Eder Militao, Nacho Fernandez or young Jesus Vallejo.
