The 22-year old Scottish winger, Mikey Johnston, has returned from injury stronger and better, as seen in his display when he featured for his team in the final minutes of the last few games.
Many Celtic fans are impressed by Johnston’s efforts in the Celts’ recent matches at home against Ferencvaros and St Johnstone, both of which Postecoglou’s boys begged three points.
Even though the time Mikey played was short, his performance was good enough to impress Ange, who might allow him more time on the field.
Speaking about whether the youngster would play tonight against fifth-placed Hibernian, the coach said, “…whether I’m going to start him, it will just be a case of seeing when the first opportunity for that to happen is.
Although he (Mikey) has played well the few times he came in lately, Ange thinks the winger has some areas to improve or solidify, and might not put him in the starting line-up until he is ready. “The key…is that he keeps getting stronger and working hard…” the manager partly said.
Celtic’s current attacking squad has done a great job, and their coordination is fruitful in most games, so their coach perhaps won’t change the likes of Jota and sensational Kyogo for Johnston when facing fierce opponents.
Mikey will most probably be Ange’s choice as a starter when anything goes wrong with the top attackers though, or in less tough games, because the 22-year old’s capabilities cannot be written off.
