Ange says Jota will decide whether to stay at Celtic

Jota (Filipe) and Furuhashi netted a brace each in a 4-2 win against Dundee that saw Celtic reclaim second place, four points shy of leaders Rangers. After the convincing display, Postecoglou is satisfied enough to want to sign the 22-year old Portuguese permanently.

On loan from Benfica with a buying option, Jota’s sensational performances so far are worth being acquired, but Ange doesn’t plan to force things. The Celts’ coach has left the decision on whether Jota will go or stay in the player’s hands.

Radio Scotland had a few questions about Filipe after the brace, and Postecoglou was clearly amazed that they (Radio Scotland) didn’t do so earlier on. “I’m surprised you are only starting to talk about Jota now.” Ange stated.

Speaking about the winger, the Hoops manager praised his talent and expressed the desire to make him a star, after the Portuguese’s difficult initial career. “…he’s got a hell of a lot of talent…He hasn’t had the easiest start to his career…my job is to make him the best possible player.”

Though, according to the Celtic manager, Jota loves being at the club, the former trusts his winger’s smartness and knows he (Jota) will decide what’s best for him, keep playing.

“I think he is loving life here…he’s got a pretty good head on his shoulders and he knows that the best way forward for him is to keep playing his football and the rest will take care of itself,”Ange said.

According to Ange, Celtic would love to keep Jota, but the decision lies with the latter. “If he feels that this is the place for his future, we’d be more than happy to keep him here.”
