Benitez could retain Rondon despite the Venezuelan’s sluggish Everton start

Rafa Benitez took Salomon Rondon with him to China from Everton, and then back to the EPL again, showing just how much the Spaniard trusts in his Everton No.33.

However, the 32-year old hasn’t seen the back of a net in his six appearances for Everton and is losing patience. “I want to bring goals to these fans…it is my job,” lamented Rondon.

Benitez has managed the star in more than three clubs, and, as he did three years ago, believes he (Salomon) simply needs time to find his form.I think that Rondon can do it…I think it’s a question of time…he will play better for sure,” Benitez had assured in 2018.

Seeing as the striker has started on an almost similar note at Everton as he had then at Newcastle, perhaps he will get better with time and more games, his best opportunity being this weekend to replace the suspended Richarlison.

The Venezuelan hasn’t made much progress at Everton despite his efforts, but Benitez might still line him up as he (Rafa) admitted last month that the forward is “giving everything”.

Everton have gone two months and six matches without a win, their worst run in 16 years. If featured on Sunday against Brentford, therefore, the Venezuela international must bring everything to the table (just like every other Everton player should) or his chances at redemption will keep getting slimmer.
