Demarai Gray decision after Everton substitution hint, Richarlison dilemma

Richarlison is likely to be back in action in the starting line-up against Liverpool after facing a suspension.

After receiving his fifth booking at the Etihad Stadium for a foul, the Brazilian was forced to miss Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Brentford.

Richarlison could spearhead the attack for Everton in this midweek game and replace Salomon Rondon, who has failed to score for the Toffees in 10 appearances.

Rafa Benitez is unlikely to make any changes in the back line unless Yerry Mina is declared fit. Damarai Gray is also pushing to feature in the match after recovering from an injury.

Given Benitez’s unwillingness to make substitutions at Brentford—although trailing from the 24th minute onwards, he made only one alteration—there aren’t many other options.

The only other practical choice would be to recall Fabian Delph, who started the two previous games against Tottenham Hotspur and his former club Manchester City, to replace Allan or Abdoulaye Doucoure, or one of the aforementioned more attacking midfielders, if Blues manager opts for a more conservative approach to try to contain their free-scoring neighbours.
