Rafa Benitez ready to ‘Sacrifice’ Everton star player in January – report

According to The Telegraph, Rafa Benitez is ready to sell Lucas Digne in the January transfer window in order to increase Everton’s recruitment budget.

According to the newspaper, Digne, 28, is getting interests from all around Europe, and while Premier League clubs are also looking for a left-back, only Inter Milan and Napoli have expressed an interest in the France international.

Digne is said to have had a falling out with Rafa Benitez, and due to financial restrictions at Goodison Park, it’s becoming increasingly probable that the Blues manager would “sacrifice” the left-back next month in order to raise finances.

Digne would be one of the players we wouldn’t want to see depart Goodison Park in January if we had to pick just a few.

Last season, the attack-minded left-back forged up a fantastic partnership with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but injuries to both players have hampered Everton’s progress in 2021.

Before leaving for Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti oversaw a massive drop in our Premier League standings, whereas Rafa Benitez’s arrival split the fanbase and has since caused widespread outrage due to the team’s poor form under his leadership.

The Digne issue is yet another blemish on Benitez’s record since he has struggled to win over many supporters and has already lost the backing of the majority of those who were initially supportive of his selection.
