Newcastle offer player to Everton in swap deal, Rafa really loves him

Newcastle United have launched a bid for Everton defender Lucas Digne, and have included Sean Longstaff in the negotiations.

Newcastle are reportedly pursuing Digne and have made their first bid, according to Sky Sports.

Newcastle have made a £22.5 million offer for Digne, but are attempting to entice Everton into a deal by providing Longstaff in exchange.

Given that Rafael Benitez was the coach who gave Longstaff his shot at Newcastle, this could be enticing to him.

Longstaff was compared to Michael Carrick by Benitez, who wanted him to join Everton last year.

Despite his current predicament, that’s a fair profit on the £18 million Everton paid for Digne in 2018.

Digne has been sidelined in Everton’s lineup recently, and he appears to have fallen out of Rafael Benitez’s plans.

Newcastle are on the need for a new left-back, and Digne will be a risky acquisition given his offensive prowess.

The Toffees would have to value the Newcastle midfielder at roughly £7.5 million in order for their bid to be approved.

The fact that Newcastle sought £50 million from Man Utd for Longstaff in 2019 is simply astounding.

Newcastle is now hanging on the chance that Everton believes he is worth a fraction of that value.
