Rangers reject reports Celtic will receive more cash for Sydney friendly

Rangers have taken steps to dispel any suggestions that Celtic will be rewarded more handsomely for their upcoming friendly encounter in Australia.

Celtic’s involvement in the event is expected to earn the club £6.1 million, according to a report in the Australian media.

But the Ibrox club has firmly rejected any notion that their opponents will get a better deal for the event.

Supporters of both teams have expressed their displeasure with the decision to play a friendly in the Sydney Super Cup on social media.

According to reports, it is expected that both clubs will collect more than £3 million for just two games – more than they would receive for a full SPFL season.

Prior to the Qatar World Cup in November, Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers will participate in a mini-tournament.
