Kemar Roofe fitness latest ahead of RB Leipzig return leg

According to reports, Kemar Roofe is overcoming his fitness struggle to play for Rangers against RB Leipzig on Thursday at Ibrox.

Roofe has been given the go-ahead to return to Ibrox on Thursday night, according to the Scottish Sun, and will play if there are no late setbacks.

Using a hyperbaric oxygen chamber has helped the Jamaican international get better faster. He has responded well to the treatment, which he has been using.

While that’s going on, Giovanni van Bronckhorst says that Rangers’ chances of winning the Scottish Premiership title were effectively over when they drew 1-1 with Celtic at Parkhead last week.

In a tense final Old Firm match of the season, the host team took the lead with Portuguese attacker Jota’s close-range effort in the 20th minute, but Gers striker Fashion Sakala equalised with a powerful drive in the 68th minute before hitting the post in a thrilling conclusion.

Celtic are six points clear and have a higher goal differential of 19, a dominant lead that the Gers manager mentioned in his post-match Sky Sports interview.

The Dutchman said: “I think only a win today would give us a chance to close the gap even more.

“It’s still six points with the goal difference in favour of Celtic so it will be more difficult after today.

“As I said before the game, we needed a win to close the gap to three points. We didn’t, we drew, but I couldn’t have asked for more from my players, what they have given.

“Especially in the second half, we pushed really hard to come back into the game, which we did, and get good opportunities to win this game in the final 10 or 12 minutes.

“Definitely second half you saw, after 60-65 minutes, we were getting stronger and stronger.

“We did very well in those moments, created great chances, hit the post. What can you ask for more?

“The only thing is we didn’t score the big chances we had.

“We did everything we could to win this game but in the end we are two points short.”
