Rangers have been guaranteed an automatic spot in next season’s UEFA Europa League group stages.
This is due to the extension of the expulsion of Russian clubs from all European contests. The omission elongation, on the other hand, has nothing to do with football in Scotland.
According to ESPN journalist Dale Johnson, the particulars of the Europa League are a nightmare expected for Rangers in the coming campaign.
Rangers have sealed the UEL group stage qualification after the losers of the UEFA Champions League 3QR league path, in which Rangers are members, are guaranteed a ticket to the group stages of the Europa League at worst.
On the other hand, losers of the 3QR champions’ path go direct to the UEFA Europa League group stages. Rangers are not members of this category.
Rangers will on Thursday take on German side RB Leipzig in the second leg of the semi-finals of the Europa League with an eye on winning the competition and thereafter securing a ticket to next season’s UEFA Champions League.
However, even after failing to win the Europa League, Rangers will still be seeded in the 3rd qualifying and play-off rounds.
They will then avoid meeting sides such as Benfica of Portugal and instead meet Sturm Graz, FC Midtjylland and PSV.
