Rangers keen on renewing McGregor’s contract

Rangers are believed to be in high-end negotiations with Allan McGregor concerning a contract extension at the Scottish Premiership club.

McGregor’s deal runs out in June, with all involved parties remaining silent over the 40-year possibility of contract renewal.

However, reports from Ibrox reveal that Rangers are keen on having the veteran goalkeeper in their backyard for longer, with an imminent contract extension on the table soon.

Rangers will be boosted by the stay of McGregor as the experienced shot-stopper has emerged as a vital player in manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad in all competitions lately.

The Rangers boss will arguably cherish having the goalkeeper for at least another season with the team.

This development comes at the moment when Scott Arfield committed his future to the club for another year, while Alex Lowry extended his stay at Rangers by penning a new three-year deal with Rangers.

McGregor has played a total of 442 times for Rangers since rejoining the Glasgow-based outfit in 2018, becoming one of the greatest players in club history.

He has been pivotal in Rangers’ Europa League campaign this season as well as in domestic competitions.
