On his podcast, Phil Hay discussed the current injury situation at Leeds United for the upcoming 2022/23 season.

After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Leeds United will be hoping to get off to a good start this season.

Indeed, Leeds will look very different this season with the departures of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha and the arrivals of Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen.

Injuries are already having an impact, and Hay says that Luke Ayling won’t be ready to play until later in the season.

Hay gave an injury rundown.

“Dallas is injured, he’s recovering from his fractured femur, and he won’t be available until the turn of the year. Ayling had surgery on a knee injury right before the end of the season, he could be looking at four months out, which means he won’t be ready for the start of the season if that’s the case,” Hay said.

The injury to the ‘great’ full-back is a setback for Leeds, but it also provides Kristensen with an opportunity to shine right away.

That right-back berth is open for grabs, and with Dallas out of the picture, Kristensen will be the one to fill it.

The Dane has the chance to create a strong first impression at Leeds, but whether he takes advantage of it remains to be seen.
