According to Dharmesh Sheth, West Ham’s second offer for Lille midfielder Amadou Onana was turned down.
“Had it confirmed West Ham United have had a second bid rejected by Lille for midfielder Amadou Onana.
“The offer was believed to be around €30m. While West Ham haven’t closed the door on pursuing the player, it is thought they are looking at other options.”
West Ham look to have only recently become involved in this transfer story, but after having a second offer rejected, it finally seems as though it might be coming to a conclusion.
The dependable midfielder would have been a terrific addition to David Moyes’ team and would have permitted more rotation between Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice, and himself.
He played in all eight of their matches, giving him priceless Champions League experience in addition to his 31 league appearances from last season.
AS Monaco boss, Philippe Clement, highlighted how much he values the midfielder from Hamburg and how he initially tried to sign him.
He said: “I believe very strongly in Onana’s quality. Consequently, we didn’t get the chance to work with him, but for me, he’s a player with a big future.”
As this promising midfielder appears certain to stay at Lille, fans will be disappointed to see another offer rejected.
