28-year-old warned about joining Nottingham Forest

According to former Brazil international Edmundo on his own YouTube channel, Gustavo Scarpa may “regret” leaving Palmeiras for a new experience in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.

Scarpa has become accustomed to the taste of champagne after spending four years wearing the evergreen shirt of Palmeiras.

Since moving from Fluminense in 2018, he has won no fewer than seven medals, including two Copa Libertadores titles (the equivalent of the South American Champions League).

How can Scarpa fit in with a team that will likely spend the first half of 2023 looking backwards rather than forwards and cautiously monitoring the relegation zone after his winter arrival?

“Scarpa is a special situation. It’s very personal for him to want this adventure in European football,” says Edmundo.

“I think somehow he will regret it. Because for those who are used to winning things, playing in a team that will fight against relegation can be very frustrating.”

Although there may be some worries about the 28-year-old’s ability to adapt to life in England given his small stature, there is no denying Scarpa’s natural talent.

“Scarpa is different. He has a low centre of gravity. He has creativity, and ‘solves that Rubik’s Cube’,” adds Edmundo, who played 40 times for Brazil. “He’s more than just a football player.”
