According to journalist Dean Jones, the summer transfer season may see Leeds United and Everton compete for Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins.

If Villa are genuinely eager to trade the striker, as revealed by Football Insider this month, Watkins might be offered to Leeds, Everton, and Crystal Palace in the coming days, the well-known and highly respected journalist has told GiveMeSport.

Watkins, who would cost Villa £28 million in transfer fees in September 2020, is reportedly interested in signing with Leeds, according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs on Twitter over the weekend (BBC Sport).

Jones told GiveMeSPORT over the weekend: “What would happen in a situation like this is, typically, intermediaries start targeting obvious clubs when a player is made to feel like they don’t have much of a future.

“So, if that is the case with Watkins like it’s been reported, then I would expect Leeds, Crystal Palace, and Everton to also be offered his services in the next week or so just to gauge how much interest there is out there.”

Ollie Watkins should be signed by Leeds United or Everton if they are offered the Aston Villa striker.

The 26-year-old is a very skilled striker who contributed two assists to Villa’s victory over Everton last weekend in the Premier League.

Leeds’ top scorer, Patrick Bamford, might use the help of an up-front replacement.

In his 74 Premier League games to date, Watkins has 25 goals and 13 key opportunities created.
