Dean Jones, speaking to GiveMeSport, says that Newcastle United are eager to begin talks with John Stones in the summer.
This appears to be an amazing piece of business. The England international, Stones, would be an excellent addition to the Newcastle backline.
Alan Shearer may not be a fan of the idea of Newcastle signing Stones, but the Toon Army as a whole should be ecstatic.
In fact, Stones has been lambasted by the Magpies legend on numerous occasions in the past.
It is not the first time Stones has received harsh criticism from Shearer, most notably after Manchester City’s defeat by Everton in years back.
“Everyone keeps saying to me and to the rest of the football world, that he is going to be a top player,” Shearer said.
“But I keep seeing John Stones make mistake after mistake after mistake.”
“They didn’t replace Kompany in the summer so they now have few if any alternatives to playing Stones and Otamendi together,” Shearer wrote.
“They are an accident waiting to happen and when we talk about those two we are still talking about the mistakes over anything else.”
