Celtic FC have been approaching what could be thought as their rightful place both in the Scottish domestic competitions and the UEFA Europa league. Going into the international break, Ange’s men stand second in the Scottish league standings, four points behind Rangers.
After the break, The Celts face St. Johnstone in the Premier Sports Cup semis, after which they take a trip to Germany for a Europa League challenge against Bayer Leverkusen. But with a number of men, including their No.4 and No.18 out with injury, Ange’s squad is disadvantaged.
Both defender Carl Starfelt and attacking midfielder Tom Rogic have been out with harmstring problems for two weeks now. Though the former champions have had convincing victories in the two stars’ absence, it was a tough job and Postecoglou would want at least one of the two fit in ten days.
Speaking about their return, the Celtic coach wasn’t certain, only appreciating their efforts and hoping that they would be back sooner rather than later. “Carl and Tommy are trying hard to make the semi-finals next weekend. I wouldn’t rule either of them out right now, “Ange said.
Although he needs them present, the Celts manager stated that he wouldn’t risk the Australian and his Swedish counterpart, terming the situation as “one of those touch and go ones.”
Ange is hopeful that if Carl and Tom do not make it on 20th November, they’ll appear against Leverkusen on 25th. “…They’ll probably be ready for the Leverkusen game,” he thought. With Chris and Greg also hoped to return soon, Celtic could strengthen their League title fight.
