Ange Postecoglou on Callum McGregor form and caution

Celtic expected to seal permanent move for star player

All eyes are on the Scottish Premiership tonight as league leaders Rangers take on second-placed Celtic in a heated and anticipated Glasgow derby.

Two points apart and with none having lost a single game in the last five, each of the two sides will need to bring their A-game to fend off the other and top the table.

The Celtic midfield is worrying though, as most might miss out on tonight’s game due to suspension, injuries, or fatigue. If left without a choice, Ange might have to include the return from injury of Callum McGregor, who must be masked for comfortability should he appear on the field.

“Callum McGregor trained…If he does play…he will have to wear a protective mask…he has to feel comfortable,” Postecoglou revealed to the Daily Record. Despite this, the Celtic boss isn’t too sure about the 28-year old Scot’s fitness for the game, instead leaving the decision to the player.

“He will only play if he feels he is at his best. If he doesn’t think he can…he will wait till that time is right,” Ange added, unclear whether the midfielder will line-up alongside Hatate and O’Riley at Celtic Park tonight.

Whatever squads Postecoglou and van Bronckhorst pick in the end, tonight’s clash will without a doubt be worth watching, and might play a vital role in the eventual outcome come the season’s end.
