Barcelona has not yet registered Ronald Araujo as a first-team player, despite signing a new deal with him last summer.
Araujo signed a contract with Barcelona, which will keep him with the team until 2026, and this was considered a significant move amidst interests from Liverpool and Manchester United.
However, due to Barcelona’s challenges with fitting within their salary cap, Araujo has not yet played under his new contract.
In the January transfer window, Barcelona had to go to court to get Gavi registered, even though he signed his deal after Araujo. If Gavi is not registered by the end of the season, his contract will be void, and he will be free to leave.
Barcelona remains calm about the situation, as the same clause in Araujo’s contract will not take effect until August 1st. They plan to have him registered on July 1st.
Still, if he cannot be registered at the beginning of July, concerns will arise. The court’s decision on Gavi’s contract is more pressing and could trigger a chain of events that would lead to Gavi becoming a free agent if the judgement goes against Barcelona.
