Brendan Rodgers tipped to make summer transfer move that will excite the Celtic fans
Celtic have been extremely busy in this summer’s transfer window. With five new faces added to the squad already, Brendan Rodgers has been tipped to make a statement of intent before the window closes on the 1st of September.
Former Celtic defender, Alan Stubbs, has tipped the Hoops to dip into the market again and he believes that a ‘marquee signing’ is not too far away.
Stubbs said [Daily Record], “Before the window closes, I expect him to get a couple of his own signings in. They’ve looked towards the Asian market again and, from the outside, it looks as though they were in place before Brendan arrived.
“They would have definitely had the likes of Yang and Kwon earmarked before Ange left. Brendan has obviously given them his blessing.
“But I believe there could be a big marquee signing for Celtic waiting in the wings. I think Brendan will have his eye on a big one to get the fans really excited.”
Celtic have proven in the past that if they want to go out and spend big money, they will do so. The club have spent £9m on the likes of Odsonne Edouard and £7m on Christopher Jullien, and whilst we were financially able to do so, our spending power at that time is nowhere near where it is at now.
The £12m spent on Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers also shows that if the manager really wants a player, the Celtic board will step up and back him.
The club is cash rich. Brendan Rodgers is reportedly said to have a huge transfer budget at his disposal should he wish to use it.
And up until the signing of Maik Nawrocki, Celtic’s new additions so far this summer have been brought in for relatively modest fees.
Just who this marquee signing could be is anyone’s guess. But the Celtic fans are waiting for Rodgers to make that signing, that statement of intent that says we are not giving up our title easily and that we aim to be a force to be reckoned with in Europe once again.
