According to sources, Celtic are close to completing the signing of Benfica winger Filipe Jota, who will join the club today.

The latest sources claim that the 22-year-old is scheduled to have his medical today and join the Hoops on loan with an option to sign him permanently.

More first-team playing time is needed for Jota to further his development, thus he will likely get it with Celtic compared to Benfica.

Additionally, Ange Postecoglou should sign an additional attacking player, in order to increase the depth of his attacking unit and to help the 22-year-old Benfica winger, who might be a fantastic short-term acquisition. A loan transaction would be an affordable addition, especially if the amount is little.

Having Jota added to the team only makes the Hoops even better. Because of his youth, the player was naturally a left winger, although he could function on either flank.

Celtic would have the chance to buy the winger on a permanent basis next summer if he delivers considerable success during his loan period at Parkhead.

This all looks so simple in principle, but the 22-year-old is currently adjusting to Scottish football and, ultimately, whether he can make an early impact at Parkhead this season will be seen.
