Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou still needs a couple of reinforcements before the transfer window shuts, especially at full-back.
Celtic had shown interest in Manchester City’s Yan Couto, hoping to secure a loan move for the Brazilian and despite Couto’s interest in the move, it now seems that negotiations broke down as the 19-year-old is set to join Braga on loan.
The Scottish League side were forced to look elsewhere for options and recently they have been interested in Josip Juranovic and now talks have progressed between the club and Legia Warsaw over a potential move.
According to Sky Sports, the two clubs have recently made some progress in discussions to try arrange a deal for the 26-year-old.
Celtic are now close to reaching an agreement with Legia Warsaw seemingly agreeing to the £2.5 million asking price of the Polish side and with Juranovic interested in the move to Glasgow, there is confidence from all parties that the move will be finalized soon.
Speaking on Tuesday, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou confirmed Juranovic was one of a few players the club have been linked with, but was reluctant to admit it was almost a done deal.
Celtic are in dire need for a full back as 22-year-old Anthony Ralston is their only option and although he has stepped up and is doing a great job, they need a more senior player to take up the role.
Juranovic, who’s got 10 senior caps for Croatia to his name, looks like he could be a brilliant addition.
He’s enjoyed a lot of success for his club as a wing-back. Therefore, he would be perfect as an attacking right-back in the Celtic system.
The speedster has 10 assists in 40 appearances since his move to Legia in 2020. In addition, he’s got the versatility to move over into the heart of defence if needed.
