Celtic duo ‘set’ for loans away as partnership confirmed
According to a report, Celtic are planning to loan out two of their young players to Admira Wacker, a club in the Austrian second division.
The Daily Record claimed that Celtic B team regulars Tobi Oluwayemi and Matthew Anderson will both spend a season with the Austrian Football Second League club.
The report also confirmed that there was a partnership between Celtic and Admira Wacker, as previously speculated. This is expected to benefit both clubs in achieving their goals.
Oluwayemi is a goalkeeper who joined Celtic from Tottenham Hotspur’s academy in 2019. He had a loan spell at Cork City, but it was cut short by injuries.
Anderson is a left-back who has never played for another club than Celtic in his young career.
Admira Wacker are a historic club in Austria, having won the Australian Bundesliga nine times, but they were relegated to the second tier two seasons ago.
In other news, Celtic flop Liam Shaw has revealed his desire for more playing time after joining Wigan Athletic on loan for a season.
The midfielder will work with former Celtic and Scotland star – and Hibernian boss – Shaun Maloney at the English club and believes the move will be good for him.
Shaw signed for Celtic from Sheffield Wednesday in 2021 but has only played twice for the Celtic first team and has been loaned out to Motherwell and Morecambe, spending all of last season with the latter.
The 22-year-old said: “I’m really happy to be here. I just can’t wait to get started. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, getting to know the boys, and getting down to business.
“It’s a massive club and when I spoke to the manager I really bought into his vision. I can’t wait to get started.
“It will suit my game. The manager wants to play good, positive football, and be aggressive, which is what I want to do. I feel like it’s a really good fit.”
He told Latics TV: “The main thing for me is playing as many games as I can, and developing as a player, and as a person as well. I am looking forward to it.”
