Scottish Championship holders Celtic are expected to make a permanent move for midfielder Jota from Benfica this week.
According to Sky Sports, Celtic have decided to keep Jota after he joined Ange Postecoglou’s squad on the final day of last summer’s transfer on loan from the Portuguese outfit.
The midfielder went on to make a big impact with 13 goals for Celtic. Jota has the ability to play on both the right and left side of the pitch, making him a reliable utility player for the Scottish side.
Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph looks forward to Benfica setting up a complex option in the loan deal, converting the move into a permanent deal with talks reported with the player and his representatives.
Jota is reported to have told Celtic about his desire to remain at the club. His Benfica contract runs until the summer of 2024.
However, the Portuguese club does not appear to be extending their contract in Lisbon.
