Celtic make move to sign 26-yr-old with same agent as Tierney

Celtic have asked about Dinamo Zagreb star Dominik Livakovic, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hoops have cash to splash in the final weeks of the summer window and Brendan Rodgers’ budget will increase significantly if the club can strike a deal with Al-Ittihad for Jota.

Celtic have made a new goalkeeper a priority as they look to provide backup and challenge for number one Joe Hart.

Rodgers wants to sign a shot-stopper who is good with the ball at his feet as well as someone who has plenty of top-level experience.

Livakovic, 26, fits the profile as he has 45 Croatia caps and has played a lot of Champions League and Europa League games with Dinamo.

The keeper, who has a year left on his contract, is managed by the Stellar agency, who also have Hoops star Kieran Tierney among their clients.

He is one of several targets in the keeper position for Celtic, who seem increasingly likely to fill the role before the summer window closes.

Hart, 36, was the undisputed number one at Parkhead in his first two seasons at the club after joining from Tottenham in 2021 on a three-year deal.

Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain are also on the club’s keeping roster, with the latter recently renewing his contract.

Earlier this week, the Scottish champions sold academy product Conor Hazard to Plymouth Argyle for £150,000.

New boss Rodgers, who has come back to Celtic for a second spell, is currently evaluating his squad at their pre-season training camp in Portugal.
