Joao Felix has been officially signed by Chelsea on a brief loan from Atletico Madrid.
Felix has had trouble establishing himself as an everyday player for Atletico Madrid this year, starting just seven league games. Felix has searched for a move away in January since Diego Simeone has chosen players like Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann above him up top.
Jorge Mendes, Felix’s agent, told CaughtOffside via his Substack blog that he has been in contact with a number of clubs in hopes to find Felix a move this window.
Felix has now been officially signed by Chelsea on a loan for the remainder of the campaign. When Atletico announced Felix’s transfer to Chelsea, they also revealed that he had extended his deal with the Spanish team until 2027.
After some of their new recruits had underwhelming seasons, Chelsea is in serious need of attacking reinforcements this window.
Graham Potter will find Felix to be a helpful option because of his versatility to play through the middle and off the left. Felix is still a young and developing player.
