Newcastle United’s significant interest in Everton’s Anthony Gordon was first reported earlier this week.
However, a story by The Athletic’s David Ornstein has quickly disproved this theory.
Everton, according to this report, has no intention of allowing Gordon to leave this summer, whether to Tottenham or Newcastle.Instead, they intend to give the young player a new deal to keep him at Goodison Park.
Although it appears like Gordon won’t be joining Newcastle or Tottenham this summer, there is certainly interest, and that is significant.
Let’s face it, Everton may very well be relegation candidates this season after such a tedious 2021–2022, and if they once again find themselves near the bottom of the Premier League, it might not take Gordon long to start thinking that the grass might be greener somewhere else.
Although the winger has spent his entire life at Everton, he may wait to sign the new deal Everton will offer him because Newcastle and Spurs are interested.
Even if he is a lifelong Evertonian, club allegiances can be abandoned when your team is impeding your professional advancement.
