West Ham United manager David Moyes believes the club should not sell Michail Antonio.
Moyes made this statement after West Ham’s FA Cup win over Derby County, where Antonio started and scored the second goal.
Despite a difficult season and increased competition with new signing Gianluca Scamacca, Moyes wants to keep Antonio at the club.
Antonio, valued at £7 million, has received interest from other Premier League teams, but West Ham may not want to reinforce their competitors.
However, Moyes acknowledges that every player has a price.
Speaking after their win yesterday, Moyes said: “Money talks in football everywhere but at the moment, no, I’d say there’s no chance.
“Let’s be fair, there’s probably prices for every player around the country but at the moment, I don’t think there’s any price we are interested in taking for Mick. I’d probably say no to that.”
The Daily Mail added to Moyes’s quotes, simply saying, ‘David Moyes wants Michail Antonio to stay.’
Everton is said to be interested in acquiring Michail Antonio’s services due to their difficulties scoring goals.
The new manager, Sean Dyche, must quickly determine if Antonio is the solution to their attacking problems.
Gianluca Scamacca, a recent West Ham signing, has been facing injury issues.
Another new signing, Danny Ings, has also suffered an injury after only playing one game.
Given the fitness concerns at West Ham, it is understandable why manager David Moyes wants to keep Antonio on the team.
