Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is keen on tapping into the young talent at the club’s academy for stability and performance.
Ranging from the under-18s to under-23s, Howe has communicated his clear indication of promoting the impressive juniors to the main team in the Premier League.
“It is about the individuals coming through to the first-team here. Definitely if there is a disconnect, I want to bring the Academy, the Under-23s, everything, closer to us,” Howe revealed.
“We try to do that already to an extent by having training once a week with the Under-23s who come in with the first-team. We try to integrate things that way.”
The tactician had earlier affirmed that he would not waste time drafting a player like De Bolle to the senior team because of his great potential.
The teenage midfielder has an outstanding passing technique that leaves Howe completely impressed.
Howe said: “I think that’s important that we embrace everything to do with the football club. Nothing would please me more than to bring two or three players through per year that can really compete and get into the first-team. That might be some way off but I’d love to do that.”
Meanwhile, Newcastle were initially staring at possible relegation from the English Premier League following a string of poor results in the league.
They, however, made some significant reinforcements to the squad that eventually took them to safer grounds.
Newcastle’s Under-18 side have also been having a bad season after losing 13-0 to Manchester City over the weekend in the Academy league.
On the other hand, the club’s under-23 side are somehow in better form after finishing eighth in Premier League 2.
