Everton can finally replace Andre Gomes with “huge talent”

Everton’s fans have little to cheer about this season, as the Toffees have won just seven of their 27 Premier League matches.

Keeping the Toffees in the Premier League is a tall order for Frank Lampard, who has only 11 league games left to his name and is only three points clear of the relegation zone.

While Andre Gomes has contributed to Liverpool’s current position in the Premier League table, he hasn’t done much to aid the team’s success thus far.

Despite making 12 league outings, Gomes is still yet to show what he can do for the team.

Lucas Digne (22), who left Goodison Park in January, has made more live passes that have resulted in a shot at goal than the 28-year-old.

Alex Iwobi, Demarai Gray and Richarlison all have a better record in the tackles they’ve attempted than the former Barcelona star.

Lampard may be able to get rid of Gomes in the upcoming summer transfer window if the numbers show he has been of little use to the Toffees.

The Merseyside club could use Gomes’ potential departure to finally sign a player they were interested in during the previous summer transfer window.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, the on-loan Arsenal midfielder Everton were rumored to be interested in in the summer of 2014, is set to return to England after his current loan deal with AS Roma expires, according to a recent Daily Mirror report.

He may be enticed to sign a long-term contract with a different club because of all the drama that surrounded his departure from the north London club.

Frank Lampard has previously described the £48k per week midfielder as a “huge talent,” and the prospect of Everton pursuing the player could allow him to develop him into a key member of his squad.

Toffees fans would be relieved to see Gomes leave Goodison Park and replaced by a more energetic and dynamic player if the Arsenal player is to join Everton.
