According to reports from The Express, Everton are in advanced negotiations with Rangers to sign Nathan Patterson.

Despite just winning one of their last 12 matches, the Toffees are firmly behind Rafa Benitez in the January transfer window.

On Saturday, the Toffees announced the signing of Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dinamo Kiev, and it appears that they are close to finalizing a deal for their second big signing of the month.

According to the Express, Benitez is certain that if he is properly backed in the market, he can turn things around.

It was clear that a right-back was required, and it appears that they are on the verge of securing their long-term aim, after failing to sign him in the summer.

Everton are hoping to sign the teenager for around £10 million. He has so far made six outings his national team.

Rangers are discussing a variety of performance-related add-ons, so the deal should be concluded within the next week.

Patterson is a highly regarded young prospect who has excelled for both his club and his country.

The teenager desires regular game time, so a move to the Toffees makes sense. It is beneficial to all parties concerned.

He has the potential to be a long-term successor for Seamus Coleman, but for the time being, he appears to be competing with the Toffees’ player for a starting spot.

Jonjoe Kenny’s future with the team is also in jeopardy as a result of his possible arrival.
